"Sheen Watan" plantation campaign attended by Minister for Environment, KP

REDA in alliance with CAUSE, The Edifiers, IMSciences, Islamia College University, Ministry of Education, Ministry for Environment and Forest Dept. KP, organized a plantation campaign at Govt. High School No. 1, Hashtnagar, Peshawar on 27th March 2012. Minister for Environment, Mr. Wajid Ali Khan attended the campaign. A warm welcome was given by the Scouts and one of the students presented a bouquet to the chief guest.

A brief about the progress of Sheen Watan plantation campaign 2012-16 was presented to the audience. During the first session of Sheen Watan plantation campaign 8400 saplings are planted in different schools, colleges, public places and residential areas of Hayatabad, Badabera and Chamkani in Peshawar district and in Jamrud and Mullagori, Khyber Agency, FATA. Fruit bearing plants were distributed among poor families of Chamkani. All these saplings were provided free of cost at the door steps of the beneficiaries.
The Principal of the school, Mr. Jamil ur Rehman, thanked the minister for his presence and support. He also appreciated the efforts of REDA and partnering organizations for the noble cause.

The minister then planted a sapling in the premises of the school. 200 more saplings were planted by students, teachers and staff of the school.

REDA also explained their plan of establishing local nurseries in all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These nurseries will be used to propagate and grow fruit bearing plants. These nurseries will act as distribution points for the district which will help in better coverage along with price reduction and quality improvement of the saplings for the campaign. The idea was appreciated by the Mr. Wajid Ali Khan, who then instructed Forest Dept. to provide support and assistance in this regard which was reassured by Chief Conservator and Conservator of Forest Dept, KP.

"Sheen Khyber Pukhtunkhwa" campaign in Khyber Agency

"Sheen Khyber Pukhtunkhwa" campaign started in Khyber Agency. In first phase, 400 trees were supplied to Govt. College of Management Sciences, Jamrud, Khyber agency. Students and faculty members of the college volunteered for the cause. Trees were planted by the faculty and students of the college. As part of the awareness campaign, Dr. Waseef Jamal of IMSciences university addressed the students highlighting the importance of plantation and its need in present conditions of the region. Mr. Noor ul Islam, CEO of CAUSE, explained the working plan for Sheen KPK.

Sheen Khyber Pukhtunkhwa - Plantation campaign 2012 in Peshawar by REDA

REDA launched the plantation campaign "Sheen Khyber Pukhtunkhwa" on 28th February by planting saplings in different schools of Hayatabad. These selected schools included Govt. Girls High School, Govt. Girls Primary School and Jica School, Phase 1, Hayatabad. Each school was given 100 saplings. The campaign was started by the Principals by planting a tree in their schools. REDA in partnership with The Edifiers, CAUSE, IMSciences and Islamia College University is volunteering in the campaign with the support of Ministry for Environment, Ministry of Education and Forest Department, KPK.

Sheen Pekhawar (Green Peshawar) - How to get FREE saplings and volunteer registration at REDA

REDA is actively promoting Sheen Pekhawar (Green Peshawar) and is seeking registration of volunteers for the campaign. We urge all the residents of Peshawar District to step forward and become an active member of Sheen Pekhawar. REDA has started registering volunteers for Sheen Pekhawar and is encouraging the youth of Peshawar to come step up and fulfill their responsibility.

Teams are organized in different areas for registration of volunteers and to run awareness campaigns. Sapling planters will be registered as well. These planters will get FREE SAPLINGS through REDA. There will be FREE training sessions regarding Plantation, its benefits and look after issues as well.

29th flower show in Islamabad


Islamabad Horticultural Society (IHS) in collaboration with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is arranging Spring Flowers, Vegetable and Birds Show from 1st April to 3rd April 2011 at Rose & Jasmine Garden.

Chairman CDA, Imtiaz Inayat Elahi will inaugurate the Spring Flowers, Vegetable and Bird Show on 1st April 2011 at 3:30 PM.

Different species of birds, splendid flowers and vegetable would be displayed in the show for the entertainment of the general public.
