Six school children became victims of a driver's negligence when an oil tanker rammed into a school building near National Highway in Sekhat area of Matiari District on Thursday.
The police quoting the eyewitnesses say that the oil tanker's driver lost control of his vehicle due to overspeeding. As a result three children, hit directly by the tanker, lost their lives and three other sustained injures.
The deceased students identified as Allah Dino (10) son of Imamuddin Kalhoro, Ghulam Murtaza (8) son of Chakar Khan Kalhoro and Chetan (10) belonged to Dakhno Government Primary School in village Sher Muhammad in Matiari.
Sekhat police, earlier, brought the bodies to Matiari's Civil Hospital from where they were handed over to the bereaved families.
The injured children, who were also taken to the same hospital, were later shifted to Civil Hospital Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, the police has arrested the driver, Muhammad Ismail, although his co-driver escaped from the place.
DCO Matiari Saqib Soomro has announced Rs 100,000 as compensation for the families of each of the deceased children.
